Eight members of a North Texas Antifa cell were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 30 to 100 years by a federal judge earlier this week for their roles in the shooting ambush on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility on July 4, 2025.
The sentencing follows convictions of eight individuals on charges including rioting, use of explosives, providing material support to terrorists, and attempted murder of a police officer. The attack occurred at the Prairieland ICE Detention Center near Dallas, where a police officer was shot and wounded.
Independent journalist Andy Ngo, who has been reporting on the case from day one, described how mainstream media has repeatedly refused to treat Antifa militants as domestic terrorists.
“The facade built up by Democrats and Liberals and leftists for a decade now—that Antifa doesn’t exist, that they’re peaceful protesters, or if they do exist it just means anyone who’s against fascism—is crumbling,” Ngo said. “This is why media coverage post-trial has been to gaslight and lie about what happened.”
He added: “They call the convicted terrorists ‘peaceful protesters’ who are being sentenced to decades in prison because they were engaging in First Amendment protected activity. These are all lies. I’ve been reporting on this case from day one.”
The combined sentences of 30 to 100 years mark one of the strongest federal crackdowns yet on Antifa-linked violence in the United States.
